People seek counselling for many different reasons. Life can be painful, overwhelming and confusing at times. Some people simply want to understand themselves, and how they relate to others, with more clarity.
Whatever your reason for considering coming to counselling, I would like to welcome you to my website, in which I will outline what counselling is (and isn’t!) and aim to give clear information on what to expect in the counselling room.
To be that self which one truly is, is the opposite of despair.
Can I sense (the client's world of feelings) so accurately that I can catch not only the meanings…which are obvious to him, but those meanings which are only implicit…?
...nobody can stand truth if it is told to him. Truth can be tolerated only if you discover it yourself because then, the pride of discovery makes the truth palatable.
Almost always, when a person realises he has been deeply heard…it is as though he were saying, "Thank God, somebody heard me. Someone knows what it's like to be me.
With a few rare exceptions, which I would discuss with you in the first session, everything you say in the counselling room is confidential and I am professionally bound to uphold this.
My aim is to see things from your perspective as far as possible – to step into your world and view it alongside you. This enables me to empathise with where you find yourself.
I work from a belief that people are unique and valuable and that even if we hold different personal beliefs and opinions, this does not prevent me from offering a non-judgmental space within which to explore your thoughts, experiences and feelings.
